A certified trained RN, NP, PA, or MD/DO should be administering IV, IM, or subcutaneous therapies. In order to determine if IV vitamin or nutrient replenishment is safe for you, a thorough medical history (including a list of medications) should be completed. Patients with kidney, liver disease, congestive heart failure are highly discouraged from receiving said IV therapies. We recommend that patient have labs done prior, including but not limited to a complete metabolic panel (which includes kidney and liver function). A full set of vitals signs will be taken pre and post infusion. Always consult with your doctor to determine if these therapies are right for you, especially if you are pregnant or have or have had illnesses that may affect your liver, kidney, or heart. Our recommendations and evaluation does not take the place of your medical doctor. Note that, side effects related to the Use of Vitamin and Nutrient Infusions: Bruising at the site of the insertion, Rash, Dizziness.

Niacin (vitamin B3): side effects may include flushing and it is contraindicated in people with liver disease (active or past); Pyridoxine (vitamin B6): side effects are rare, but may include headache, numbness, and sleepiness and overdose in large quantities is possible. Side effects of vitamin B6 are rare, but may include headache, numbness, and sleepiness and overdose in large quantities is possible. Normal doses are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Vitamin C is generally well tolerated, but infrequently, it may cause headache, flushing of the skin, and GI discomfort.

You may feel great after your IV therapy. However, a few patients may feel report some unpleasant symptoms post infusion. Symptoms may include: headache, general unwellness, diarrhea or constipation, sinus congestions or flu-like symptoms, and body aches. One explanation is that your cells may be dumping stored wastes and toxins into the blood stream to be exctreted via urine, feces, or sweat. If say your body's innate metabolic pathways are stagnant or are already overworked (ie liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, colon, lungs), you may also experience some unpleasant symptoms. Any unpleasant symptoms should be reported to your physician immediately.

Other Recommendations Post-IV Therapy:

  • Avoid alcohol for a few days to allow your liver to recover from detoxifying your body.
  • You should drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins.
  • If you have diarrhea, consider avoiding taking anti-diarrheals, and rather let the body dispose of as much as possible.
  • You may want to consider taking a magnesium salt bath, as the magnesium can help draw out more toxins from your skin and speed up the process of toxin extraction.
  • You may want to consider giving your digestive system take a break. This may be easier if you are familiar with intermittent fasting. Alternatively, consider goin on a brief bone broth diet, as the fat and protein in the broth will keep you satiated. If you would like to do a juice fast instead, make sure to include vegetables in it as fruit only can make you feel words (b/c of its effect on insulin). You also may want to consider adding coconut oil to slow down the absorption of glucose.
